Proposed Amendments to the Arkansas Constitution
In addition to voting on national, statewide, and local candidates, Arkansans will also decide whether to approve three potential amendments to the state constitution. There are two ways for proposed amendments to be put on the ballot. The first is by voter initiative, and while several such initiatives circulated petitions earlier this year, none garnered enough signatures to make it to the ballot. The other way is for amendments to come from the state legislature to the ballot. The legislature is allowed, in each of its regular sessions, to refer no more than three constitutional amendments to the ballot for voter approval.
Issue No. 1 - An Amendment to Provide a Constitutional Right to Hunt, Fish, Trap, and Harvest Wildlife
Issue No. 2 - An Amendment Concerning Interest Rate Limits and the Issuance of Government Bonds for Energy Efficiency Projects
Issue No. 3 - An Amendment to Lower the Threshold for Issuing State Bonds to Attract Major Industries
